Neelakurinji mean blue flower in Malayalalam. Neela Vasantham, mean blue spring, that’s the time when blooms the Neelakurinji ,and cover the valleys and hills.Really an enchanting one ,and rare moments of life if u get a chance to visit the neela vasantham.That only, happends once in 12 years.
Neelakurunji  is a shrub , scientifically named as Strobilanthes Kunthiana.There have near 46 species of its kind.They blooms once  in intetrvels of 10 to 16 years.Such plants ,those flourished inlong interval are  called as plietesials.
Neelakurinji ,those we could find in Kerala blooms once  in every 12 years.That we could see at Munnar and hills of western Ghats ,and also we could find them at Nilgiri hills.
The  Last heavely days of  Neelavasantham  was in 2006. So next Neelavasantham will be in 2018.
I wish to tell one don’t miss it, if have a least chance to get it. Marvelous visual of the blue hills under blue sky is wordless one to describe.
